In this class, we will be discussing the importance of selecting the right onion variety and the technology of producing a high yield of quality onions. We will cover the key concepts related to onion varieties selection, including the different types of onions and their unique growth requirements. Additionally, we will discuss how to grow onions, including soil preparation, planting techniques, and irrigation practices. By the end of this class, you will have a better understanding of how to select the right onion variety and how to grow onions to achieve a high yield of quality produce.

 

This course is part of a series of technique training focusing on vegetable cultivation and poultry feeding, offered under the Country Pilot Project titled "Sustainable Agriculture and Value Chain Development SSTC Cities Project Pilot Initiative in Nepal".

Wang Haiping is a researcher and chief scientist of the Vegetable Germplasm Resources Innovation Team at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. His research focuses on the genetic diversity, systematic evolution, and core germplasm construction of vegetable resources, as well as the innovative utilization of vegetable germplasm based on modern biotechnology.
