This course is the first session of the Webinar Series on Grain Post-Harvest Handling for Smallholders, co-organized by WFP PPGR and WFP China COE and supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China.

 

This session, Smart Grain Drying Solutions for Smallholders, highlights practical, scalable, and cost-effective approaches to grain drying tailored to the needs of small-scale farmers. Part I introduces the development of post-harvest drying infrastructure and service systems in China, including national policies, investment strategies, a range of drying technologies and various service delivery models. Part II focuses on private-sector innovations in West Africa, highlighting the creation and deployment of affordable grain drying technologies and business models suited for smallholder farmers.

Zhu Guangfei

Senior Engineer

Dr. Zhu Guangfei works as a senior engineer in the Academy of Agricultural Planning and Engineering, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. He is also a scholar who graduated in Agricultural Engineering from China Agricultural University. His research focuses on eco-friendly drying and storage technologies for grains and oilseeds, along with quality regulation. Specific studies include: theoretical and technological research on multi-physical field coupling models for stored grain quality control, ventilated storage, and novel drying methods.

Isaac Sesi

Founder of Sesi Technologies

Isaac Sesi is an entrepreneur and innovator passionate about leveraging technology to solve problems in Africa’s food systems. Isaac currently leads Sesi Technologies, a Ghana-based agritech company, as Founder and CEO, where they are empowering smallholder farmers with technology solutions to reduce losses and increase productivity.
