This course is part of Module I: Experience on Grain Postharvest Management within the webinar series on postharvest loss reduction organized by the WFP Centre of Excellence for Rural Transformation (WFP China COE). The series was held from August 27th to September 26th, 2024, with support from the Academy of China’s National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration (NAFRA).

The overall objective of this webinar series is to share China’s extensive experience, technologies, and practices in reducing postharvest loss. Across two modules—Module I: Experience on Grain Postharvest Management and Module II: Technology and Practice on Grain Postharvest Loss Reduction—a total of 16 Chinese presenters introduced China’s approaches to postharvest management and demonstrated key technologies applied by aggregators at various stages of the postharvest process.

Within this framework, the present course examines China’s grain conservation and loss reduction standard system, tracing its origins, evolution, and current development. It highlights the system’s significance in ensuring food security and emphasizes the role of standards in reducing grain losses and waste. The course discusses key standards for wheat, soybeans, wheat flour, and rice, and explores measures that support their implementation, including promotion, interpretation, and pilot projects on green grain storage and moderate processing standardization.

* Participants who successfully complete the course and pass a corresponding quiz will receive a certificate of achievement.

At present, I am mainly responsible for the management of grain standardization, and have drafted documents such as the "Management Measures for Standardization of Grain and Material Reserves", "Management Measures for Standardization Technical Committees in the Grain and Material Reserve Industry", and "Interim Measures for the Management of National Grain and Oil Standard Research, Verification, and Testing Institutions". We have established a framework for the standard system of grain conservation and loss reduction.

He is the main drafter of national standards such as "Noodles" and "Edible Blended Oil", as well as industry standards such as "Procedures and Requirements for Formulating and Revising Grain and National Material Reserve Standards".
