This course, developed by the Nanjing Institute of Agricultural Mechanization—an institution under China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs—is designed to help farmers reduce losses during mechanical rice harvesting. It presents best practices for mechanized harvesting, including pre-harvest preparation of the combine harvester and field assessment, determining optimal harvest timing based on crop maturity, and conducting test runs to fine-tune machine settings. The course also outlines efficient harvesting strategies—such as selecting appropriate operating speeds, driving routes, and techniques for challenging conditions like lodged or wet rice—to minimize grain loss and maintain high-quality yields. Emphasis is placed on standardized yet adaptive operations that enhance efficiency and reduce post-harvest losses in real-world farming environments.
* Participants who successfully complete the course and pass a corresponding quiz will receive a certificate of achievement.
