With backing from the National Food and Strategic Reserve Administration, Sinograin Chengdu Grain Storage Research Institute has innovated a new grain storage system that transforms traditional storage methods. Keeping in mind the characteristics of Chinese small-scale farmers’ grain storage, which mainly includes storing staple food for about a year, they have crafted the Colour Steel Plate Combination Warehouse, a new storage facility apt for small-scale farmers. This mini silos warehouse is designed to store staple grains such as rice, which have a safe moisture content. It effectively curtails post-harvest losses, providing farmers with a way to minimise losses and boost income. Moreover, the new storage facility aids in preventing the formation of carcinogenic toxins like aflatoxin, produced by mould growth on grains. This guarantees a higher quality of grain supply to the public, establishing the groundwork for food safety right at the source.
